Here’s the link for the Internet Explorer Beta 2 build 5299 :)

Internet Explorer 7 beta 1Interested in the new Internet Explorer 7 beta 1 and Microsoft’s Vista?
Internet Explorer 7 - Beta 1 - http://www.mininova.org/tor/80685 (10.06 MB)

Microsoft Windows Vista Codename Longhorn Beta 1 - http://www.mininova.org/tor/80640 (2,47 GB)

I’ve download IE 7 beta 1 but was unable to intall it because:

  • My Windows is not in English (I get an error saying that the update will not continue as the language of this system is different)
  • I don’t have Service Pack 2 (because it kills my Wi-fi!)

Also, if you don’t have a legal/without serial number Windows you may wanna follow these instructions:

Use Winrar to unzip the file you’ve downloaded

Open update\iecustom.dll in a hex editor

Navigate to hexadecimal offset 0×1034h(4148 decimal) and change 0F 95 to 0F 94

Save and execute update.exe

Have you managed to install it on your pc? Then mail me a print screen of my blog!

note: I’ve tried to edit the update.ini file to see if I could bypass the issues above but I get an “integrity error” on the last stage of the install…

Update 1 [2005-07-29]
Stolen from Bitaites blog this Jcraveiro comment that allows you to run IE7 Beta 1 without installing it, without English Windows and without Service Pack 2:

1. Do not install IE7; have WinRAR installed on your computer.

2. Right mouse button over “IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe” and choose “Extract to IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu\”.

3. Create an empty file on the “IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu” folder, with the name “iexplore.exe.local”

4. Run “iexplore.exe” from “IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu” folder.

This solution was tested by me. It is not bullet-proof as you will have some extra weird bugs on IE (for example, the About IE menu option shows a blank box), but it is a nice and easy way to test you website with the new Internet Explorer 7.
